Let Sleeping Rogues Lie (The School for Heiresses)

I can't remember if it was last week or the week before that my sis, her bf & her bff & I watched Transformers Revenge of the Fallen, but regardless of when we saw it, I still have to write up a review about it since this movie was on my list of TO WATCH/SEE movies (remember that list of mine that I started a few months back that I can't seem to finish because I keep on adding more titles to it???). Anyway, here's my long overdue review on the aforementioned film as well as my review on another movie that I just saw last night.
For a sequel, this movie did not disappoint me. I know there were tons of sequels that couldn't live up to their predecessor, especially when said predecessor was a multi-billion dollar hit in the box office! Transformers The Revenge of the Fallen sure lived up to my expectations (I think it lived up to everyone's expectations as well, but hey, who am I to know what they expected of the sequel, right?).The non-stop action/drama/humour that fuelled this megablockbuster sequel hit was just delivered accordingly. There were no awkward/unwanted moments to fill in time; it was just a continuous flow of action, blending/melding the storyline until the climactic moment.
I won't go spoiling it for people, but here's a hint for those of you who have yet to see this movie: I cried when one of the "good guys" died, but don't worry, this movie still has a happy ending; that little twist there was needed to push forth the plot.
Anyway, even though I ended up sitting at the front row of seats at the theater, I didn't mind it that much (even though by the end of the movie I think I suffered a stiff neck for having to sit at an angle just so I can see the whole thing without my eyes popping out of my sockets!). The auditorium was full and the line-up for the second to the last showing that weekend took us all the way back outside the building! Yes, the freakin' line-up was that long! But regardless, my "crew" and I still got in and watched it so it's all good. WATCH IT -- YOU WON'T GET DISAPPOINTED.
Sandra Bullock's always been one of my fave
actresses right alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, Nicole Kidman and Meg Ryan (I don't have that very long list of fave actresses). She was good in drama; knew how to hit the punchline in comedy; and she was quite adept at handling herself in an action movie (remember the two Speed movies?).In the rom-com The Proposal, Sandra played a tough-as-nails editor in chief of a book publishing company whom everybody at work thinks she was the Wicked Witch of the West reincarnate (some other vile creature that nobody could stand, but everybody seems to be weary/afraid of nevertheless). Ryan Reynolds (*drools*) plays his executive assistant aspiring to climb up the proverbial ladder and become an editor himself. He was a real sweetheart who always aimed to please his hag of a boss because...well, he wanted to get promoted.
I'm sure everybody knows why this movie was titled as thus. Margaret (Sandra Bullock) was an "alien" working in America (she's a Canuck waiting for her VISA to get approved so she'd be allowed to work in the US) and was very damn good at her job, but she was facing deportation back to good ol' Canada and lose her precious job as ed-in-chief unless she could think of something real quick that could solve her problem. Then enters Andrew (Ryan Reynolds), her reliable and very trustworthy assistant whom she thought was just an average Joe, until she went home with him for the weekend back to Sitka, Alaska to celebrate his grandmother's birthday. Her eyes opened up to a whole new side of her assistant that she most of the time just took for granted, and I think somewhere along the way Andrew realized that underneath that tough, bitchy, maneater persona of hers, Margaret was human and all woman (I'm sure everybody's familiar with that naked-run-in-to-each-other scene -- btw, it was cute and OMG! I had to ogle Ryan's sexy physique for a few minutes there! Whoa!).
Suffice to say this movie was filled with laughter, a bit of family drama (on the hero's part, thus making him an enigma to his boss) and lotsa cute-romantic moments that was scattered here and there for the audience to taste, see and enjoy. If you're needing something light to watch, slip in to The Proposal and let yourself get lost in the movie. BTW, the location for Andrew's family home in Sitka, Alaska was very picturesque! I wanna have a home like that!!!

My hubby is taking me to see Harry Potter when it comes out and then we plan to take the kids to see Transformers. I can't wait to see it. It looks like it is really going to be good.
