Last night I was supposed to watch Zac Efron's 17 Again with my gal pal, but by the time we got to the cinema there was a long line-up at all the ticket counters and even the ATM ones so even if we do get our tickets, the movie already started and really, I'd rather go in to the theater before the previews started 'coz I would at least have some decent lighting in the room while looking for a place to park my behind.
Anyway, since we were already at the cinema and my gal pal and I were cold (the wind just picked up this evening and it was uber cold), we decided between Ghosts of Girlfriends Past or Star Trek.
The former won and so we got ourselves tickets to watch the 10:35pm showing of Matthew McConaughey's latest romantic-comedy movie.
It has been years since I last watched any romantic-comedy movie vehicle that had Matthew McConaughey for its leading man. I tried watching Failure to Launch or How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days and even Fool's Gold, but neither one of the aforementioned movies irked my curiosity enough to make me put it down on my list of movies TO WATCH.After watching him get cozy and cute and funny and flirty with JLo in The Wedding Planner a few years back, his other rom-com movies just wouldn't do it for me anymore. And another thing, I ain't a big Jennifer Garner fan (I watched 13 Going on 30 and Elektra as well as Dare Devil in as much as she was a pretty young thing, I preferred her "Sydney Bristow" character from Alias more than in any of the aforementioned movies), but in this movie I actually enjoyed watching her; kinda like when I was watching her hit TV series, Alias, before the whole storyline of it just made me lose interest in it.
Anyway, like all romantic-comedy movies, this one's got it all. There was that unrequited love from the past that was the reason why our leading man's a prick and why our heroine's never been married or has had any steady relationships. Then the adorable supporting characters that leaves a stamp of their own in the movie. And having Michael Douglas play the ghost of a dead womanizer who happened to be the man responsible for our hero's womanizing ways was just superbly cast.
Hey, I'd believe both Matthew and Michael to be womanizers.
Uhm...didn't Michael get Glenn Close all psycho in Fatal Attraction a few years back? And he seemed to know his way with women. After all he has romanced quite a few of 'em -- young and old -- in most of his films.
Anyway, me digressing here, I say that Ghosts of Girlfriends Past may have borrowed its storyline from the famous A Christmas Carol, but with a twist. Nevertheless, I don't think anybody could go wrong using the same recipe that has been tried, tested and proven to be a good one...unless the person helming the camera doesn't know what the hell he or she was doing and couldn't visualize what the final outcome of certain scenes would be...but let's not go there.
Overall I'd say I'll wait for this movie to come out on DVD and add it to my collection of chick-flick rom-coms.

I have another movie for your list... Slumdog Millionaire (don't think I saw it on your list above). It was wonderful!
